Congratulations to East Fife on becoming the first team in the Leagues to gain promotion.  The Championship may have been decided but it is still tight for the play offs.  We have to play the teams above us so we are still in with a shout.

The players believe it as the nerves were showing but we were resilient and managed to gain the 3 points.  The supporters on Saturday were excellent and I am certain if we can keep up the numbers and vociferous support it will help the guys tremendously.  It was not the prettiest game but we ground out the result.  On occasions it is what is required, we have played better and lost games but the spirit not to give it up was there for all to see.

Tonight we welcome East Stirling with their new manager Jim McInally.  It was some baptism for him on Saturday against East Fife but I am sure with his playing and managerial experience from Morton he will turn out an extremely competitive side, lets hope it is too early for him to achieve for tonight.

It was good to see Gretna managed to play there game on Saturday, I hope they get through the season and find a way to survive.  Our Clubs best wishes go out to Brooks Mileson as he recovers from illness.  What a fantastic journey the club had and from what I read there may be an Irish consortium wanting to take it over so the journey could be continuing but not in the SPL.

On that note, considering the state of Motherwell's surface, it is an opportune time to thank our grounds man Bob Cruickshank for keeping our pitch in such tip top condition through out the season.  I know our manager appreciates the time and effort Bob puts in, allowing the team to play the type of passing game he coaches.  Bob not only puts hours in on the pitch he also carries out various ground maintenance tasks and we are thankful for his diligence and endeavours.

Finally, there is a dance night on Saturday 3 May 2008 being run by the dance club in aid of Elgin City Social Club, the last such event was excellent.  So for those of you who want to skip the light fandango and have a really good night, whilst boosting club funds, get along to the main hall there are still tickets available.
