Excellent result on Saturday, it was a pity some of the other results did not go our way but all we can do now is take each game as it comes and try our best. It is a tremendous effort by the management team and players to put us in this position considering the results at the start of the season. It would be fantastic just to get the opportunity to compete in the playoffs as we proved over the last couple of months we can compete with all the sides and there is very little between the 6 sides below East Fife.
I know it seems at every game someone is at you for money, raffles, half time draw and such. However, I would like to mention our end of season draw for a car, at £1 a ticket it is a bargain and we need to sell many more tickets before 28 April, so please be charitable as all the proceeds go towards the manager’s budget for next year.
Finally, we are close to the play off position and a possibility of netting the highest total of points since we joined the SFL; yet we still have a minority of supporters who want to criticise the players. The butt of a lot of criticism has been aimed at the one young lad who turned down more money from a Highland League side for the chance to play in the SFL. There is a section of the stand who are hurling abuse at him, how about trying some positive comments to help him adapt to the step up and he may encourage other good players from the HL to consider Elgin. The team may be a victim of their own success in that they have done so well so far that the crowd expect (quite rightly) that to be maintained. Unfortunately, that is not always the case. What I would say is that every player goes out there to give his best, they have good and bad days but I can assure you all, that shouting derogatory and negative comments does nothing to make them play any better. Think about it!
