Willie Martin put City in the lead but a quick equaliser for Shire by Andy Brand cut short the celebrations. Two further goals by Brand gave him his hat-trick and compounded Elgin's misery.
He was the hero for the home team, hitting a hat-trick in a 3-1 win. Elgin started well and took the lead on 25 minutes when a Willie Martin shot was deflected past keeper Michael Brown. The lead was to last only 60 seconds as Brand levelled from a Craig Donaldson corner.
Both sides hit the woodwork before East Stirling took the lead in the 61st minute through a Brand header. Brand completed the scoring on 74 minutes when he raced clear and slotted home.
