It was another 4-0 defeat for City and another afternoon of misery for the Elgin supporters. With Allan Dempsie being sent off, it was a game to forget for most.
The home side opened the scoring after 13 minutes when Paul Watson's free-kick was played wide before he volleyed home the return pass.
City were down and out when three minutes later Arbroath captain Barry Sellars doubled his side's score when he scored from a Jamie Bishop pass.
Barry Sellars then got his second from the penalty spot. Allan Dempsie was then sent off for dissent before Arbroath's Paul Tosh slid home the fourth goal at the death.
