Elgin City 0 Cowdenbeath 2
  McGregor 58
Gemmell 60

For the third game out of four, Elgin found themselves finishing with only 10 men after Steven Mackay's harsh sending off at the end of the first half. Two goals in 2 minutes gave the Blue Brazil an undeserved 3 points.

Elgin will be hoping its a long time before referee Frank McDermott is back up North as it was his decision to red card Steven Mackay on the stroke of half time that turned this match on its head.

From the off City looked the stronger side and challenged Beath for every ball, with 2 corners in the first 10 minute, with Shallicker, Mackay and Kenny Gilbert coming close. It took until just on the quarter hour for the away side to muster their fiest serious chance with a free kick on the edge of the box easily savid by McNulty. For the remainder of the first hald, it was an even affair with City probably just edging it.

On 44 minutes that changed however as referee McDermott straight red carded Steven Mackay for a challenge in the box, yellow carded Craig Campbell and awarded a penalty. Perhaps the award was justified but the sending off was somewhat harsh as McNulty was in goals and there was no guarantee that Beath would make it 1 - 0. Justice was seen to be done in the eyes of the City faifhful however when McNulty pulled a great diving save out to his right, sending the sides in level at half time.

Despite playing the second half with only 10 men, City tried to play football on the deck however that final ball just never came off. It was a frustrating afternoon for Shally and Crooks, the latter substituted at half time, as they were up against a solid defenc, marshalled well by M'Bu. Nicolson cam close after a great run on 52 mins but his shot was saved by Hay for a corner. From the resultant corner Shally's flick was just past the post. 2 goals in two minutes put the game into easy street for Beath however, as McGregor nipped in front ot McNulty to grab the first, then John Gemmell made a good run through the defence, and his low drive ended up in the back of the net, and ended City's hopes.

They continued to drive forward but without creating any serious chances.
