There was no repeat of the 6-1 result on their last visit to Borough briggs but Livingston completed the clean sweep over Elgin with a narrow win.
Shane Sutherland twice came close to putting Elgin in front, testing Roddy McKenzie with a shot on the turn before drilling inches past after a superb run in the ninth minute.
Livi were on the back foot, and City defenders Allan Dempsie and Paul Kaczan almost showed their strikers the way to goal with good efforts on goal. Demo's attempt was a cross from the riht which nearly crept in while 'Kaz' rose to meet a Jason Crooks free kick and scraped the woodwork with a towering header.
At the other end John gibson denied Robbie Winters and Raffaele De Vita, but was helpless to prevent an angled De Vita strike from finding the net shortly before the break.
Against the wind in the second half Elgin were still managing to pin back Livi for long spells without really showing a ruthless touch in the final third of the field.
Sutherland had his third chance of the game - and perhaps his best - from a Jake Inglis cutback but blazed over from close range.
As Elgin pushed for an equaliser Livi made more of an impression on the break, but were made to look ordinary by a home side which more than matched them on the day.
In the end, the leaders were relieved to come away with a win which extended their lead at the top to ten points.
