Craig Gunn fired Elgin into the lead but then a McBride penalty saw the visitors take the replay back to Hampden.
This was an exciting game with chances for both teams and Elgin keeper Zander Clark had a couple of outstanding saves which merited him the Man of the Match award.
It was against the run of play when Craig Gunn broke free and slotted the ball past Neil Parry in the visitors' goal. Elgin were in command after that and should have gone further ahead when Gunn got free again, passed to Stuart Leslie but he failed to score.
Queen's Martin McBride netted from the spot after Mark Nicolson brought down Michael Daly. Queen's Park had their tails up now and had a shot by David Murray deflected onto the post before Zander Clark pulling off another top class save.
