Speaking ahead of yesterday's home game against Stranraer, City manager Robbie Williamson said his side would be giving their all to win all remaining home games this season to sustain the side's push for a play-off spot.

"Tonight is the first of many games we have over the next few weeks," said Robbie, "and we are looking to win all our home games in that time, and right until the end of the season."

"I will freshen things up a wee bit for tonight, maybe bring in a couple of boys for starts. With so many games in the next few weeks, I'll be looking to rotate and make full use of the squad."

Defeat at East Fife in City's previous outing, following the postponement of the Borough Briggs game against East Stirlingshire, brought to a halt an unbeaten run that saw The Black and Whites pick up seven points from visits to Dumbarton and Stranraer and a home win over Montrose.

Robbie was pragmatic about the 2-0 loss to the Third Division leaders at New Bayview.

He said, "We've made a mistake for their first goal, then the second goal [a MacKay own goal] was unfortunate. When you go and play team running away with the Third Division, you can't make these sorts of mistakes - but I can't fault the boys for effort."

Little transfer business was done during January at Borough Briggs, but one of the few faces to arrive was a familiar one - Steve MacKay returning to the club from neighbours Peterhead. Robbie was pleased to report that "Sid" had settled seamlessly back into City life.

"Sid is settling in fine," said Robbie. "He has a couple of games under belt already, but he knows himself that he needs a few more games. He's familiar with people here and the way we work, though, so there have been no problems for him at all."

In response to recent local debate over whether an artificial playing surface would benefit Elgin City, Robbie gave his views on the matter from purely a football perspective.

"Artificial pitches are good for training and working on functions and, sure, you are guaranteed to get games on. Maybe I'm a bit old fashioned, though, and I still think football should be played on grass."
