Elgin again failed to register their first win at Shielfield Park since joining the league as Berwick ran out comfortable winners.
The home side took the lead after only 4 minutes when a Paul McMullan corner was steered home by Chris McLeod. Only 6 minutes later and they had doubled their advantage, Darren Gribben luckily getting in the way of Barry Wilson's goal-line clearance and scoring from close range.
Barry Wilson created Elgin's only real chance in the first half but his shot was deflected wide and nothing was made of the resultant corner, and with Berwick looking very threatening up front it was no real surprise to see them score two more just before half time, Craig O'Reilly with the pick of the goals with a fantastic volley from 25 yards and Darren Gribben netting from close range.
The second half started just as the first had ended, Darren Gribben completing his hat-trick just 5 minutes from the restart. Paul Currie then made it 6 in the 52nd minute after taking the ball round an onrushing Steven Dunn and placing the ball into an empty net.
Elgin seemed to pick up after a couple of substitutions, and Craig Gunn was able to score his 3rd goal of the season from the penalty spot when Paul Kaczan was fouled in the box, and Danny McLeod rounded off an altogether disappointing day for City by getting onto a Jake Inglis cross and the young midfielder did well to power the ball home from the edge of the area.
