It's 2 wins in 2 weeks for Elgin City as they put Montrose to the sword at Borough Briggs, and despite falling behind early on they came back well to take the 3 points.

Due to injury, Elgin had to field a makeshift side and they fell behind after 7 minutes as Paul Tosh headed the ball down for Ross McCord, and the Dundee Utd loanee finished well. Elgin fought to get back into it, and Craig Frizzel almost made it level in the 15th minute with his diving header going just over the bar, with some good play by Jake Inglis on the wing. Brian Cameron was next to try his luck, but his well struck half volley from the edge of the area was tipped wide for a corner.

Elgin were looking dominant, and the equalising goal came after 34 minutes from a brilliant Barry Wilson free kick, the experienced midfielder stepping up to blast the ball home from 25 yards leaving Scott Bennett with no chance. City could quite easily have gone at half time with the lead, and Craig Gunn was unlucky to hit the side netting after rounding the keeper, the angle proving too tight for the striker.

With the home side dominating the end of the first half, they were flying out of the traps at the start of the second half and took the lead in style in the 51st minute, when Craig Gunn made a powerful run towards the Montrose defence, before a smart one two with Ross O'Donoghue left him with the goal at his mercy, and the prolific striker made no mistake to get the goal he had deserved.

It could, and should, have been 3 on 62 minutes when Craig Frizzel was fouled in the area by Steven Tweed, but Jake Inglis' penalty was well saved by the goalkeeper. The miss did not prove to be costly however, as Elgin got another goal 10 minutes later when Jason Crooks cooly placed the ball into the net from the edge from the box, having seen Craig Gunn's initial shot saved.

A late surge from Montrose saw them pull one back, and Aaron Sinclair's goal made sure of another nervy finish for Elgin, but some resolute defending saw them hold on to claim the win and fire them up the table.
