Elgin City went out of Scottish Communities League Cup today at Bayview. East Fife's Ryan Wallace scored one and set up the other, City hit back with a Brian Cameron goal in reply but the home side prevailed.
Elgin started well and almost took the lead 10 minutes before the break but Mark Nicolson's point-blank header was well saved by East Fife goalkeeper Mark Ridgers.
The visitors went close two minutes after the interval when Daniel Moore's corner found defender Paul Kacznan, but his header was tipped over by Ridgers.
But it was East Fife who opened the scoring on the hour mark as Wallace's cross was swept home by Robert Ogleby from 12 yards.
Wallace got on the scoresheet after 72 minutes when he powered the ball into the bottom corner at the second time of asking.
But Elgin hit back a minute later when Brian Cameron fired home from close range and they almost equalised five minutes later, but Ridgers saved well from Craig Gunn as East Fife held on.
