After the heroics of beating Ross County in the last round, it was two goals by the Fifers' Ryan Wallace which put Elgin out of the Ramsdens Cup at the Bayview Stadium tonight. The goals came after 52 and 77 minutes to seal the home side's place in the third round.
In a first-half of few chances, the first clear-cut opportunity came a minute before the interval with Elgin goalkeeper Zander Clark tipping Wallace's 12-yard strike around the post.
Wallace did find the net after 52 minutes when his right-footed strike from 12 yards found the bottom corner. Darren Smith could have doubled the home side's advantage two minutes later but he failed to hit the target from distance. Wallace then struck a second from 12 yards while later on Bobby Linn's 12-yard effort was saved by Clark.
