CITY staged a superb comeback to dump visitors Stirling Albion 3-1 to go joint top of the Irn-Bru Third Division table.
The Black and Whites were a goal down after just four minutes against the relegated Binos, who were sitting top of the tree going into today's clash.
But City levelled soon after through Craig Gunn and then wrapped things up after the break to join Rangers, Peterhead and Queen's Park as early pacesetters.
Mark Nicolson and Dennis Wyness notched the vital second half goals to take Ross Jack's side on to the four point mark ahead of away trips to East Stirling and Rangers.
Jamie Duff, out injured since the opening day defeat by Arbroath, returned to the City defence, with Graeme Beveridge replacing suspended midfielder Daniel Moore.
Injury ruled out Stuart Leslie, while striker Paul Millar was on the bench after his duties at the Olympic Games, alongside trialist Paul Harkins.
Albion rocked City by going ahead after just four minutes. Weir crossed low into the box and was slotted home by Scott DAVIDSON.
The early setback spurred City to a quick response and they grabbed the equaliser in 17 minutes. Niven's cross into the box was met by Wyness, but keeper Peat couldn't hold the effort and last season's top scorer Craig GUNN fired home the loose ball.
Elgin started to take control of the game and came close on a couple of occasions before the break to give City the lead and a rattled Stirling made a double substitution on the re-start.
New signing McAnespie and McClune came on, but it was City who carved out another chance as Paul McMullan ran the length of the pitch before firing just wide of the target.
However, the pressure paid off for the home side as they got their second goal in 55 minutes. Gunn's low cross, diverted goalward by Wyness, was blocked by Peat but Mark NICOLSON was on hand to slot home.
Elgin secured all three points in 80 minutes as WYNESS got on the end of a Cameron cross to crack the ball home for his first league counter.
