A late John Gemmell goal gave the league leaders a share of the points today at Central Park.
Following a scoreless first half, Elgin took the lead on 70 minutes after being awarded a penalty against the run of play.
The referee pointed to the spot after Joe Mbu's tackle on Darren Shallicker, which prompted protests from the home players before Shallicker converted.
Cowdenbeath levelled six minutes from time when John Gemmell headed home substitute Brian Fairbairn's cross.
