Three of Ross Jack’s summer trialists were on target in a nine-goal thriller against Aberdeen’s under-19s. City manager Jack started with five players who shone in the 3-1 Alba Cup win over Brechin 24 hours earlier.
They went behind on 15 minutes when Callum McRobbie raced through to score, but Danny MacLeod’s 30 yarder levelled before the break.
Skipper Paul Kaczan and Saturday’s scoring hero Steven Edwards both came off during the first half for a well-earned rest, while Mark Nicolson and Jason Crooks played only the first 45 minutes.
The young Dons took control of the match with three goals in a five minute burst. Full back Jonathan Crawford headed home a corner, striker Mitchell Megginson made it 3-1 and the impressive Nicky Low found the net with a delightful chip.
Trialist Kyle Macaulay slotted home a neat finish for City, only for Low to hit the goal of the game with a stunning volley.
Ex Caley Thistle thumped in City’s third at a corner and MacLeod’s low free kick in stoppage time completed the scoring.
