Elgin City lost out to Annan in the Alba Challenge Cup today after the home side came back from being two nil down to win 4-2.

Elgin City were two up after dominating the opening half, but Annan came out fired up after the break and blew their visitors away. Brian Cameron gave Elgin a sixth-minute lead when he slammed home the rebound after a Craig Gunn's shot had been parried by Greg Kelly.City doubled their lead two minutes before the break through a John MacBeth own-goal.

But Bryan Gilfillan sparked the fightback with a 57th minute free-kick.  Graeme Bell levelled when he slotted home in the 75th minute minute before fellow sub Alan Inglis fired the hosts ahead from the angle of the box. Phil Storey capped a stunning second-half display with a solo effort two minutes from the end.
