Elgin took an early lead at Stair Park today in a hotly contested game, a late penalty gave the home side all three points. The Borough Briggs side were unlucky not to take something out of this game.

Elgin went ahead on seven minutes through Jason Crooks from the spot after Armand One had fouled Jamie Duff. Both Brian Cameron and Craig Gunn linked up well before Cameron’s shot was palmed to safety by Mitchell. Less than 60 seconds later and Jake Inglis was only denied by a great last-ditch challenge from on-loan Celtic defender Declan Gallagher.

But Stranraer found the leveller on 32 minutes after they had missed chances through Scott Agnew and Sean Winter. One redeemed himself by slotting the ball into the bottom corner from close range to level.  City was not to be put off by this and they had numerous attempts on the home goal but just couldn't find the final touch to finish the move.  The visitors would count themselves to be unlucky not to be ahead by the break.

In the second half, City keeper Scott Bain pulled off two magnificent saves as the home side tried to come back into the game. Bain was eventually defeated by Agnew from the spot after Duff had fouled One.  City's David Niven was sent off in the last minute for a foul on Sean Winter and the hosts claimed the points.
