Elgin City 1-4 Ross County

After the win against Aberdeen in midweek, Elgin City came down with a bump against SPL new boys Ross County at Borough Briggs today.

County took the lead on the 8th minute when Boyd headed in an Iain Vigurs corner.  The visitors went further ahead in the 20th minute when McMenamin found Glenn in the penalty box, who took a touch before placing the ball past Duffy.  City found themselves further behind five minutes later when Vigurs again supplied the corner and this time McMenamin had another free header to make it 3-0.

But Elgin didn't give up and they pulled a goal back on the 37th minute.  Daniel Moore played the ball out to the left where Craig Gunn was unmarked, and he hit the ball low past Fraser at the near post.  Unfortunately the 3 goal advantage was restored only a couple of minutes later when Richard Brittain's corner was punched into the goal by the Elgin keeper Neil Duffy for an own goal.

The scoring was finished by half-time, but the second period saw Stuart Leslie carried off, with what was suspected at the time, a broken leg. Scans later revealed that it was badly bruised on the bone.  With a question mark over Leslie, Paul Millar called up for Olympic duty and Mark Nicolson also unavailable means that Ross Jack will be looking to strengthen his squad before next week's cup game against Arbroath.
